About the National Science Competition (KSN)
The National Science Competition or commonly abbreviated as KSN is a competition event in the field of science for elementary, middle and high school students throughout Indonesia. Previously, KSN was known as the National Science Olympiad (OSN). This name change occurred in 2020 after the Indonesian Minister of Education and Culture, Nadiem Makarim, established the National Achievement Center which oversees all competitions, competitions and festivals in Indonesia. National Science Competition (KSN) It is hoped that this competition will lead students to master science and technology. This competition is also an important part of equalizing achievement and maximizing the potential of talented and characterful students from all corners of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia. Apart from being a strategy to improve the quality of education, science competitions have a special position at various prestigious international events in the mastery of science by students. So, through this systematic and tiered competition system, it is hoped that the widest possible space will be created for students to explore their abilities in the field of science and reach the peak of their best potential. Maximum achievement will be demonstrated by the birth of qualified and highly competitive science competition champions who are ready to compete at the international level.KSN results are also taken into consideration in the selection process of students who will be prepared to represent Indonesia in international science competitions. Science fields in the competition:
- Elementary School Level: Mathematics and Natural Sciences.
- Middle school level: Mathematics, science and social studies.
- High school level: Mathematics, Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Astronomy, Computers, Economics, Earth and Geography.
Implementation Stages of KSN
Implementation Stages The stages of implementing KSN consist of:
- The school level selection stage is referred to as the School Level National Science Competition (KSN-S)
- The selection stages at the district/city level are referred to as the National Science Competition at the District/City level (KSN-K)
- The provincial level selection stage is referred to as the National Science Competition at the Provincial level (KSN-P)
- The national level selection stage is referred to as the National Science Competition (KSN)
